Variety is the Spice of LifeHaving Different Interests and Passions in Life is Essential
Many people find themselves stuck in a rut and don't know how to get out of a monotonous lifestyle. In order for a person to prosper and grow, variety is needed.
There comes a time in many people's lives where a monotonous lifestyle has them asking the question, "Is this all there is to life?"It could be a boring job, or just the same life experiences day in and day out that are mundane. That is why it is imperative to take action and make changes. The aspect of change does not have to incorporate an all or nothing approach. Even the smallest change can have a profound impact on a person's life. It is completely up to the individual to decide which aspect of change is desired as well as what makes them feel comfortable. It could be as simple as taking up a new hobby or developing a new skill. Other more substantial changes could be finding a different job, or starting a new career. Each of these changes work together to engage separate atmospheres of the brain which helps make the individual a well rounded person. According to "Hemispheres of the Brain (what) objects (what) relationships (where) processors," an article written by C.J. Lofting, the aspect of change incorporates functions associated with the right side of the brain. The right side of the brain is able to adapt to the aspect of change when compared to the left side of the brain. The right side of the brain also has a more general sense of knowledge, while the left side of the brain is more specific. Someone who uses creativity to take on a new hobby would be using their right brain, and someone who is writing a term paper would be using the left side of the brain. Why not combine these two sources of knowledge to create a masterful piece of art? According to Kendra Van Wagner, in her article "Left Brain vs Right Brain, Understanding the Myth and Reality of Left Brain and Right Brain Dominance,"as we have come to know, each part of the brain serves different functions that helps us complete different tasks. The right brain is associated more with emotion, expression and creativity and the left brain is associated with logical thinking. By being able to use these the two parts of the brain can widen the horizons of learning and put a new spin on mundane tasks that can often be very boring. For instance, you drive to work everyday, the same old route. You see the same landmarks, the same businesses and sometimes even the same people. This is where the aspect of change can be incorporated. Why not take a completely different route to work? Take the scenic route where there are more trees and nature to enjoy, smell the fresh air and see how this subtle change can make a difference. Adding subtle aspects of nature can do wonders for the spirit and the imagination. Arrive earlier to work and park the car further down the street and walk a block or two to work. One can be amazed at how, just a subtle change like this can have a magnitude of benefits. This will give you a chance to get your blood pumping and can be quite invigorating, which is a perfect way to incorporate the aspect of change into a busy lifestyle. If you are into hot beverages, try something different, instead of drinking coffee, try some green tea instead, or a nice hot chocolate. Check out that new restaurant that people are talking about and try a new dish that you normally would not think about trying. What about taking up a new hobby or developing new skills that was put on the back burner years ago? When a person learns new skills and has a passion for something it is beneficial for their overall health and prevents them from feeling as though they are living a monotonous lifestyle. On order for someone to live a more vibrant life, the aspect of change needs to be incorporated one way or another. This allows the individual creative freedom, passion and a life that is full of newness and inspiration.
